Codeine vs Dihydrocodeine, what is the difference? Codeine Phosphate (more commonly known as Codeine) and Dihydrocodeine both belong to the same group of medicines, Opiates. They are called opiates as they both offer effective pain relief in a very similar way. Codeine and Dihydrocodeine are slightly different in the way that they are used to treat different conditions.
